The Online Application Portal for Early Childhood Services, helps families in need apply for services and/or be referred to various state and federal early childhood programs.
Before you begin your application, review each of the programs below to learn which services may best support your family.
Head Start & Early Head Start
Head Start and Early Head Start are free programs that support eligible families with children from pregnancy up to age 5. These programs provide early learning, health services, nutrition, and family support to help children succeed in school and in life. Head Start programs are offered through local providers across New Mexico. Availability and enrollment may vary by location.

Child Care Assistance
Child Care Assistance supports families with children of all ages, from infants to school-age, by helping cover the cost of child care services. For children who qualify and participate in New Mexico PreK, wraparound care is available to support extended hours outside of PreK program services. Important Information Providing proof of citizenship, immigration status, or a Social Security Number (SSN) are not required for parents applying for Child Care Assistance. SSN and immigration status information are required only for children participating in the program.
New Mexico PreK
PreK helps children build early learning skills and prepares children for kindergarten. If you have a child who is 3 or 4 years old on or before September 1 of the current school year, we encourage you to apply for New Mexico PreK. Spaces fill quickly, so we recommend applying as soon as possible.
Families First
Families First supports eligible families with young children by providing cash assistance and connecting them to services that promote family stability and well-being. Families who are not seeking Child Care Assistance or PreK but need financial support and help meeting basic needs, such as food, housing, or utilities, may benefit from Families First.
Home Visiting
Home Visiting supports families with young children by connecting them with trained professionals who provide guidance, resources, and support in the home or virtually. Families who are expecting a child or have young children and would like extra support with parenting, child development, or accessing community resources may benefit from Home Visiting. This program is ideal for families who are not specifically seeking childcare or financial assistance but want additional guidance and support.
